Prez attends int’l Maithili conference
President Ram Baran Yadav has stressed on the need to protect language and literature as they are the common ground of national unity.Ekantipur Report
“Language and culture are common property of human race. Disappearance of a language means the disappearance of a civilization and culture,” said the president, speaking at the inaugural of 11th International Maithili Conference here in Dhanusha district on Monday.
At the programme attended by litterateur, cultural workers and language experts, Yadav said the relations between Nepal and India have deepened because of Maithili language.
Saying that the quality of education has decreased in Tarai districts in recent times, the president urged Education Minister Chitra Lekha Yadav, who was also present at the function, to take necessary measures to increase the quality of education.
President Yadav said he came to Janakpur to pray to goddess Janaki wishing for the promulgation of democratic, republic, federal, inclusive and secular constitution in the nation.
Likewise, Education Minister Chitra Lekha Yadav said the archaeological ties between the two countries will strengthen through the international Maithili conference. She added that the government has introduced various programmes to increase education quality.
President Yadav arrived here in his home district to participate in the two-day function. He also prayed to Janaki temple.
