The agitating teachers said the District Education Office (DEO) could not release time salary owing to frequent transfers of District Education Officer and probe of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority into the alleged role of DEO officials in granting permission to run fake schools.

Bharat Sah, chairman of the Teachers’ Union, said they resorted to the indefinite protests as the administrative and management work of the DEO came to a halt. Teacher Ram Babu Yadav said the DEO has not even released budget for scholarships, purchasing textbooks and school uniforms, day meal for students.
