Chinese FM arrives for three-day visit
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Kathmandu for a three-day official visit on Thursday.Ekantipur Report
After landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport in the Capital, Wang went to Hotel Dwarika’s in Battisputali. He left for Nagarkot, a famous hillstation on the outskirts of the Valley, later in the day. He will stay there overnight.
On Friday, Wang is scheduled to hand over medical equipments worth Rs 200 million for Civil Service Hospital to Minister for General Administration Lal Babu Pandit. The hospital was built with Chinese assistance.
Wang will then hold bilateral talks with his counterpart Pandey and address the media. He will also lay the foundation stone for the APF Academy to be built with Rs 3 billion Chinese grant at Armed Police Force headquarters in Halchok.
At a reception to be hosted by Chinese Ambassador Wu Chuntai on Friday evening, Wang will meet top leaders of major political parties.
After meeting PM Sushil Koirala at Baluwatar and President Ram Baran Yadav at Sheetal Niwas, Wang will leave for Dhaka, Bangladesh on Saturday.
Wang is the first Chinese foreign minister to visit Nepal after Yang Jiechi’s visit in 2008.
