Sarah Kay in KTM on Saturday
Sarah Kay, an American spoken-word poet, will be performing at the Alliance Francaise, Bainshighat Marg, Teku, on December 27.Kay is also a spoken-word educator and the co-founder of Project VOICE, an organisation that uses spoken word poetry as a tool for literacy and empowerment.
Kay has performed in numerous venues internationally including the Lincoln Center, the Tribeca Film Festival and at TED Talk. She was also a featured performer at the United Nations for the launch of the 2004 World Youth Report. Her most recent poetry collection, “No Matter the Wreckage”, was published in March, earlier this year. The event will feature Kay along with poets from the Word Warriors, a spoken word poetry collective based in Kathmandu.
The event will also have food and drink stalls and a photo booth managed by Photo Circle. A limited number of Kay’s books will also be available for purchase during the event.
The event is being organised by Quixote’s Cove and Word Warriors, with support from the Danish Center for Culture and Development, Himalayan Distillery Pvt Ltd, Alliance Francaise de Kathmandu, and Thames International College.
