Maoist incited ethnic groups: Minister Pandey
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, has accused Maoist party for provoking the issue of ethnicity in name of state restructuring only to fulfill their political interestEkantipur Report
Stating that state restructuring cannot be carried out by triggering the ethnic agenda, Minister Pandey claimed, even the relevant ethnic communities do not want state restructuring based on ethnicity.
“State restructuring does not only mean drawing the geographical lines,” Minister Pandey said as speaking in a press conference in Nuwakot on Saturday. “State restructuring means providing peace, prosperity and facilities to the common folks, hence all-side discussion is must for this.”
Minister Pandey also said that if the political parties could show some willpower, despite the lack of enough time, the constitution can still be drafted in its slated date. He further said time frame is not an obstruction for constitution drafting and if consensus can be forged, everything is possible.
Likewise, Pandey opined that the protest programme as declared by the opposition front including UCPN (Maoist) does not hold any relevance. He claimed conscious Nepali people would not take to streets easily just because someone asks them to do so.
