5 Kapilvastu men die in Mumbai fire

Eight people were charred to death while four injured were rescued from the inferno at Bhiwandi town of Thane district on Saturday morning. According to victims’ families, Gauri Chauhan, 25, Ganesh Chauhan, 22, Munnilal Ahir, 21, Murali Murau, 30, and Sayal Raidas, 19, died in the blaze. Binod Ahir, Budhe Loniya and Titare Lodh were injured. All of them are from the Satbhara settlement in Kushhawa-5. The members of the impoverished community had reached the Indian city for job.
Buddhisagar Shukla, former vice-chairman of the VDC, said the whole village is mourning the deaths. Prabhu Dayal Thakur, a villager living in Mumbai, had informed them about the tragedy.
They have asked Area Police Office in Krishnanagar to enquire about the incident and provide required help while some of the relatives headed for India on Saturday. Up to 80 people from the village bordering India have been working as scrap collectors and barbers in Bhiwandi.
