Disputed issues would be resolved through procedures: CA chair
Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Chandra Nembang has clarified that the disputed issues of the new constitution will be resolved according to the rules of procedures of CA.The Monday's CA meeting ocentered on the report of the Constitutional-Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (PDCC), CA chair said that the time for presenting the views was given to the lawmakers as per their demand.
Lawmakers were engaged in a debate on whether or not to return the PDCC report to the committee long back after the committee submitted its report to the CA.
While presenting their views, most of the lawmakers expressed their views in favour of finalising the disputed issues through the voting process if the senior leaders fail to forge consensus on the issues.
CPN-UML lawmaker Surendra Pandey said that the new constitution should be promulgated by January 22 as per the commitment of the political parties.
Similarly, Nepali Congress lawmaker Arjun Prasad Joshi and UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Ram Karki reiterated for timely constitution.
