Power -sharing tussle affecting constitution: Sujata
Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala has remarked that the chances of promulgating the new constitution by January 22 deadline are getting slim.Binod Ghimire
Speaking at a press meet organised here in Dhankuta by Press Union on Wednesday, leader Koirala said the political parties are more concerned with power-sharing among parties rather than national interests and the people.
She claimed that the Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (PDCC) of the Constituent Assembly (CA) has not been able to forge consensus because the UCPN (Maoist) and Madhes-based parties are trying to bargain for power. She added the CA has an alternative of drafting the new through procedures.
Sujata Koirala went on to say that the agitating political parties are trying to instigate instability as their importance would be at peril if the new constitution is promulgated. She informed that the opposition parties are even refusing to take the posts of president and prime minister.
