Anti-banda demo in Kathmandu

People took to the streets at various places in the Capital protesting against banda on Tuesday. Youth held demonstrations and chanted slogans against the tradition of enforcing general strike in order to press their demands.
Many young people carrying national flags were chanting slogan, ‘Nepal banda will last when, as long as the people remain silent.’ The banda enforcers even tried to scare away their anti-banda activists, but the security personnel intervened on time and prevented clash.
The rally organised by Bibeksheel Nepali, a group of young entrepreneurs and businessmen, carrying placards reading, ‘Nepal is open’, converged into a mass assembly at Basantapur Durbar Square. The rally had begun from Maitighar.
The youths also held motorcycle rally at various places of the city carrying placards reading, ‘Nepal banda is foul’.
The anti-banda demonstrations were also held at Bhaktapur, Lagankhel, Kalanki, among other places.
