Ex-NPC member goes missing in Trishuli
Ram Kumar Sharma, a former member of National Planning Commission, who went missing in the Trishuli River, has not been found even after 24 hours have passed since his disappearance.Ekantipur Report
Sharma presumably fell into the river at 11 am on Thursday as he slipped while trying to climb a slope along the river at Haku-3, Hakubesi in Rasuwa.
DSP at District Police Office Rasuwa, Prabin Pokhrel, said the police learnt about the incident through locals. Security personnel comprising, Nepal Army’s Naryan Dal Battalion—deployed for the Langtang National Park, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and locals are involved in the search operation.
Sharma, who was a consultant of 216 MW Upper Trishuli-I Hydropower Project, had came to Haku to study the social impact of the project.
Sixty-two-year-old Sharma, a permanent resident of Bhojpur, had been living in Koteshwor, Kathmandu. “We have mobilised local swimmers for his search,” said DSP Pokhrel,” But he has not been found yet.”
There is a narrow gorge of the Trishuli river between Dhunche and Haku. Likewise, the river current has increased due to the snowfall during December making the search operation difficult, said police.
