According to DSP Shantiram Koirala, a police team has reached the village to protect the victim and her family after being alerted of attempts to settle the case in the village itself. The case was registered on Friday and the accused will be produced in court on Sunday, DSP Koirala said.

Sherpa had raped the fifth-grader, who lives with her mother, when her mother not in the house. The victim’s mother had left for her parent’s house a day before the incident to attend to some business. According to the victim, Sherpa had raped her at knife-point at around 5pm on January 7.
