A meeting of the opposition alliance held on Monday informed that their programmes of protest will carry on as the government didn’t create a favourable environment to draft the constitution through consensus.

A statement issued after today’s meeting stated that there was no other option other than to proceed ahead with programmes of protest as the ruling parties obstinately adopted the majority voting process in the Constituent Assembly.

The alliance, in the statement, reiterated that the constitution should be drafted through consensus as per the 12-point agreement. The opposition parties stated that the talks would be unfruitful as the invitation for dialogue by Prime Minister Sushil Koirala was not clear and committed on the 12-point agreement.

The statement further urged the ruling party to create a trustworthy environment for a clear, meaningful and result oriented talks.
