Two firms selected for DPR

The Investment Board Nepal (IB) on Wednesday finalised two companies, Nepwaste Pvt Ltd and Clean Valley Company Pvt Ltd, to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Kathmandu Valley Integrated Solid Waste Management Project.

Nepwaste will undertake the Package Number 1 of the Project which includes Kathmandu metropolis and neighbouring VDCs, while Clean Valley will work for Lalitpur metropolis, the municipalities of Kirtipur, Bhaktapur and Madhyapur Thimi and neighbouring VDCs under Package Numbers 2 and 3.

IB Chief Executive Radhesh Pant said, “The process to engage the private sector for waste management in the Valley has been initiated. After the preparation on the DPR, waste management will be carried out as soon as possible by capable companies.”

According to Sumitra Amatya, executive director of the Solid Waste Management Technical Support Centre, the project will facilitate environmental protection.
