The agitators withdrew their protest after the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers decided to postpone the government’s decision to shift the land revenue and land survey offices to Simara. The Bara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who led the protest that crippled Kalaiya for past one week, organised a press meet on Sunday morning and announced the withdrawal of the protest after Ministry of Land Reform and Management sent a letter saying that the government’s decision to shift the offices was put on hold. However, various political parties continued the protest asking that the Office of Prime Minister send another letter over the matter.

The business community, activists of various political parties and locals together led the protests. The protest turned violent in the past few days with sporadic clashes and vandalism.
Meanwhile, a section of the business community in Simara took to the street protesting the government’s withdrawal of its earlier decision. They obstructed transportation for one and half hours demanding that the offices be shifted to Simara.
