Newly nominated UML CC members take oath of office and secrecy
Nine among the 10 Central Committee (CC) members of the CPN-UML nominated last week took oath of office and secrecy on Sunday.The UML CC members were administered the oath of office and secrecy by UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli amid a function at the UML Party Headquarters at Balkhu.
Some vacant posts that were to be fulfilled through nomination remained vacant for last eight months due to various reasons. The nominations were carried out on February 25.
Those taking the oath today were Kedar Neaupane, Ghanendra Basnet, Devraj Ghimire, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Kalyani Khadka, Pramesh Hamal, Suman Pyakurel, Ram Kumar Gyawali and Jaya Ghimire.
The newly nominated CC member and Minister for Agriculture Hari Parajuli remained absent as he is outside the Kathmandu Valley.
Speaking at the programme, Chairman Oli, senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, and General Secretary Ishwor Pokhrel among other leaders congratulated the newly nominated CC members and wished them all the best ahead.
Refuting the statement made by Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal in his Saturday's address at Open Theatre in the Capital, UML Chairman Oli said "None should be excited seeing the mass of party cadres gathered after a month long homework."
Dahal had said there was no essence of UML in Nepali politics for it does not have any political agenda of its own and suggested the party rather to merge into the Nepali Congress, a coalition partner in the present government.
Speaking at the programme, UML senior leader Nepal spoke of the need of establishing a system to allocate responsibilities to the leaders by evaluating their roles in the party in the right manner.
