Fake SLC examinee arrested

Police on Sunday arrested a fake examinee from the Capital while taking School Leaving Certificate examination for Rs 20,000.

Acting on a tip-off, Deputy Examination Controller Anupam Chandra Shrestha and Chief of Examination Department at Kathmandu District Education Office Durga Prasai accompanied by police nabbed Sanjaya Karki, 22, from Mahendra Higher Secondary School in Baluwatar. Karki was taking the examination for Sabin Rana Magar, a student of Baisnawi Open School with symbol number 0903259 ‘S’.

According DSP Binod Silwal, Karki had already received Rs 10,000 in advance from Magar and taken the tests of Compulsory English and Nepali. Silwal said

further investigation into the case is under way. The Office of the Controller of Examination has cancelled the exam of Magar. People involved in such cases can be barred from appearing in the examinations for as many as five years.
