Hundreds express solidarity with Dr KC
Hundreds of people from all walks of life gathered at Maharajgunj-based Teaching Hospital to express solidarity with the campaign of Dr Govinda KC.Ekantipur Report
They demanded the authorities save the life of agitating Dr KC who has been staging fast-unto-death for the past nine days seeking an end to political meddling in medical education.
The supporters of Dr KC observed a minute's silence in a symbolic protest, saying that the state is dead.
The entire medical fraternity also announced stir agitation to rally behind Dr KC’s campaign.
Earlier in the day, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal visited Dr KC and said that he was influenced by Dr KC’s perseverance. He said Dr KC's demands were legitimate.
The government has formed a talks team comprising of Education Minister Chitra lekha Yadav, Health Minister Khagaraj Adhikari and Chief Secretary Leela Mani Paudyal to address the demands put forth by Dr KC.
However, Dr KC’s representatives refused to sit for talks with the government panel until the resignation or expulsion of Education Minister Chitra Lekha Yadav and the office bearers of the Tribhuvan University and the Nepal Medical Council.
