Sticks won’t write constitution: Poudel
Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel has remarked that the demonstration of sticks on the streets by the cadres of opposition parties won't write the constitution.Ekantipur Report
Speaking at a training programme of NC leaders and cadres of Gandaki-Dhaulagiri region at Beni on Tuesday, leader Poudel said the sticks were raised on the streets due to the vested interests of leaders rather than the people’s choice.
“Mere show of sticks won’t affect the sovereign Constitution Assembly. We will write constitution as per people’s mandate,” said leader Poudel, “CA has now entered into a tunnel of process and it will step at people’s door only with a constitution in its hand.”
Saying that except a people’s mandate, sovereign country’s constitution is not affected by foreigner’s direction or stick rallies, leader Poudel questioned, “Are all the decision at UN unanimous? Is exercising veto power by six countries a democratic practice? Are those countries’ constitution written with full consensus?”
Leader Poudel pointed out that UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been entrapped in his own political plot of trying to divide the hill into numerous ethnic states while assuring a single Madhes state in Tarai.
