NTB deserted, emergency meeting called to decide way forward
The Nepal Tourism Board office at Bhrikutimandap wore a deserted look on Sunday as the majority of the office-bearers and staffs are named in the charge sheet filed by the CIAAMajority of the rooms in the NTB today remained empty with only security personnel on regular duty and some remaining staffers. The remaining few staffers too were concerned considering the possibility of being implicated in course of further investigation into the case involving more than Rs. 120 million.
When approached, the staffers did not want to speak about the case while some requested for anonymity.
Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the board has been called for 5:00 pm today in order to decide the way to move forward, said Spokesperson of the line Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mohan Krishna Sapkota.
When asked for comments about the NTB-related issue, tourism entrepreneur Dipak Mahat said it was a matter of shame for the entire tourism industry while pointing out that the government should facilitate smooth functioning of the Board.
