Banda update: 46 arrested, 11 vehicles vandalised (with photos)
Police have arrested 46 Banda enforcers from various places across the nation on the first day of three-day general strike called by the UCPN (Maoist)-led alliance of 30-opposition partiesEkantipur Report
Nepal Police spokesperson DIG Kamal Singh Bam informed that 21 people were arrested from the Kathmandu Valley. It has been learnt that 11 vehicles including motorcycle, taxi, have been vandalaised by the banda enforcers, police said.
Two motorbikes were torched at Bijulibazaar in Kathmandu. A motorcycle bearing the registration number (Ba 32 Pa 5566) was torched in the afternoon, and another one (Ba 66 Pa 7206) was set ablaze earlier in the day.
Tension ensued in Bijulibazaar after the protestors clashed with the security personnel earlier in the day. Police had to use tear gas shells to contain the situation. A large number of security personnel have been deployed at the site.
According to post photographer Nimesh Jang Rai, the situation at Bijulibazaar area returned to normalcy. The cadres of the opposition parties were singing and dancing on the road without any violence.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle was torched in Surkhet district.
