Call House session, says RPP-Nepal
Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) on Friday submitted a memorandum to PM Koirala demanding that the winter session of the parliament be summoned immediately.A group of leaders led by party Chairman Kamal Thapa also told the PM that not calling the winter session means violating the parliamentary culture. In its memorandum, the party has said that numerous Bills of public importance are pending for a long time and the lawmakers are deprived of their rights to raise the concerns of the general public owing to the delay in calling the winter session.
A joint meeting of the RPP-N parliamentary party and its Central Working Committee last week had condemned the delay and decided to press the government to call the session soon. "The government's accountability towards people is the backbone of democracy and the Parliament is a medium for it," read the memorandum. "The right of opposition parties to make government responsible and accountable has been violated due the delay in summoning the winter session."
According to the party, PM Koirala in response said he is positive towards their demand and pledged to ask two Cabinet ministers to address the concern.
