Voting concludes in Baglung by-election
The voting in all the polling centres in Baglung Constituency No. 1 kicked off at 7:00 am on Saturday. The voters would cast their votes till 5:00 pmThe Election Commission (EC) has made arrangements for electronic voting system in the constituency and it has informed that the results will be made public tomorrow.
A large number of locals thronged to all 70 poling centre in the 35 polling stations with excitement by remaining in queues. The Constituency has 52,202 voters.
The security system in the constituency was beefed up to prevent any untoward incident. Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force personnel had been deployed for the security purpose and ensure voters' right to use their ballot.
The District Election Office has managed arrangements to collect the ballot boxes by this evening.
The EC had also deployed a mega monitoring team under the coordination of Joint Secretary which carried out the monitoring in an open manner to check the implementation of the election code of conduct and thereby to ensure free and fair environment in the by-election.
As many as 13 candidates of 10 different political parties and some independent candidates are in the fray in the by-election .
The Baglung Constituency No. 1 is lying vacant after the demise of Nepali Congress lawmaker Hari Bahadur Khadka in a road accident in last December.
