Take consent before sending aid: Govt
The government on Tuesday asked international community, including various INGOs, to seek consent of the authorities concerned before delivering aid for the earthquake victims.Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “With a view to ensuring effective coordination as well as smooth handling at the (Kathmandu) airport, the Government requests all the foreign governments and international organisations to send prior information about the details of the relief materials, medical teams as well as their flight to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
The statement comes at a time when news reports claimed that some nations were engaged in evacuating their nationals instead of distributing relief materials.
"At this hour of need for immediate relief works, any indication that the government is declining humanitarian assistance from any friendly countries is not true and, therefore, misleading. The government expects continued humanitarian assistance from all the friendly countries,” the ministry said.
