Of total 55 houses in Lamidanda VDC in the district, 53 houses have been reduced to rubble. Two remaining are also dilapidated as such that no households could be run in those houses.
That is not all, more than 90 per cent of the houses in the rural settlements in the district have been destroyed to debris, shared Ananda Prasad Pokharel, Constituent Assembly member from Dolakha Constituency number 2.
Also, much to dismay of the victims here, no aid has been provided to them yet. Those who have been living under tents following the Saturday's quake are at risk of catching communicable diseases as the bad weather has further worsened their outdoor stay.
According to CA member Pokharel, efforts were underway to bring in relief materials as tents, medicine and food as earliest. Those victims who have been starving for three days are also relentlessly waiting for food. The concerned authorities here, however, are collaborating with the Home Ministry for the same.
Although a helicopter of Nepal Army was supposed to ferry food to Dolakha on Monday, it has not been able to fly there owing to bad weather.
The Saturday's quake and its repeated aftershocks have battered many houses mostly made up of mud and stone in Dolakha district. The whereabouts of many missing locals is still unknown in lack of proper mode of communication, added Parbat Gurung, CA member from Dolakha constituency number 1.
According to CA member Gurung, as many as 900 people who had gone to pluck Yarshagumba, a valuable herbal medicine, have gone incommunicado since the quake rattled various parts of the country. In lack of search-and-rescue team, they have not been tracked down yet.
Since the roads here are blocked by the landslide, the treatment of those sustaining injuries during the quake and aftershock has also been hindered.
A total of 55 people have been reported dead in Dolkaha district while 460 are injured. RSS
