Lawmakers denounce govt’s rescue and relief efforts

Nepali Congress (NC) lawmakers Aang Tawa Sherpa and Mahendra Yadav criticised the government, during the meeting of Development Committee of the legislature-Parliament on Friday. Lawmaker Sherpa called the government unworthy asserting its failure.
Likewise, lawmaker Yadav expressed dissent over other parliamentarians thanking the government saying that the government was not worthy of the gratitude. “What can the government give? It cannot even give one bottle water and a tent,” he said alleging the government of only conducting meetings and giving speeches but failing to work.
NC lawmaker Yadav further pointed out that the government took 8 hours to hold a cabinet meeting when the neighbouring Indian government held a cbinet meeting under half and hour of the earthquake. He expressed his amusement over Nepali Prime Minister finding out about the earthquake from a n Indian minister.
Similarly, speaking at the committee meeting lawmaker Sherpa said, “The government is unworthy. Tents, which could have been brought within one day haven’t reached the victims 14 days after the earthquake.” Sherpa expressed his anger saying, “The ministers haven’t fulfilled their responsibility. Black smut should be put on their faces.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Prakash Man Singh speaking in favour of the government said, “They stay in the government distributed tents and criticise the government.” DPM Singh informed that the government is working in rescue and relief among other works. He said that the efforts of the government seemed feeble due to the wider impact of the earthquake.
