Govt will distribute metal roof before monsoon: DPM Gautam
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bamdev Gautam, has assured of distributing the metal roofing sheets to the victims whose houses were battered by recent earthquake.Ekantipur Report
Responding to the queries of the lawmakers in the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament on Wednesday, DPM Gautam reaffirmed the commitment that the government would extend every possible support to the people whose houses suffered damages by the quake. He has also appealed to the one and all to join in this cause.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala had reiterated that no quake-hit persons in the country shall be rendered homeless.
Saying that the government was aware about the public services at such distressing time, DPM Gautam confided that government had been generously distributing the relief materials. He was of the opinion that deploying the lawmakers for the monitoring of the worst affected districts was a valid demand put forth by the lawmakers.
Meanwhile, the Parliament has formed a 73-member National Disaster Management Monitoring and Directive Special Committee to furnish recommendations to the government after a thorough assessment of the loss of life and property, rescue and relief operation and re-settlement following the April 25 quake.
The Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA) will be the newly formed Committee's ex officio Chair while the Vice-Chair will serve as the ex officio Vice-Chair.
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, DPM Bamdev Gautam and Minister for Law, Justice, Constituent Assembly and Parliamentary Affairs Narahari Acharya will remain its ex officio members. RSS
