Indian Army team on standby
The External Affairs Ministry of India has set up a ‘control room’ on its premises for the dissemination of information after another major earthquake jolted Nepal on Tuesday.Devendra Bhattarai
After learning about further loss of lives and properties in Nepal in the latest quake , Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed the ‘concerned security and vigilance bodies’ to remain alert in this situation of crisis in Nepal and to send a team there to take stock of the situation in the aftermath of the strong quake. An MI17 helicopter has been kept on standby at the Delhi airport to respond to any request from the Nepali authorities for further coordination in rescue works. The Indian External Affairs Ministry has informed the Nepali Embassy in Delhi regarding its readiness to extend its support.
The ‘control room’, initially set up by the ministry for coordination in relief distribution and rescue operations in Nepal after the April 25 earthquake, was closed following the return of the National Disaster Response Force team from Nepal.
