The Parliament on Wednesday formed a special committee to help speed up rescue, relief, reconstruction and rehabilitation tasks undertaken by the government in the wake of deadly earthquake.
A meeting of the committee presided over by Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang, who is also the chairman of the special committee, on Thursday decided to send four lawmakers in a district for monitoring. However, the team of lawmakers won’t take relief materials with them.
“The lawmakers are just to monitor whether relief and rescue have reached or not,” said a member of the committee. The lawmakers will head towards the districts on Friday and table their report within the next five days.
Meanwhile, the Parliament meeting has been prorogued until Many 31. The meeting was cancelled through a notice after finalising decision to deploy the lawmakers.
