Disaster rescue body proposes shifting 2,314 Barpak-houses
The District Natural Disaster Rescue and Relief Committee, Gorkha has proposed shifting 22 different villages around Barpak to safer locations before the start of the rainy season.Chief District Officer of Gorkha District, Uddhav Prasad Timilsina, who is also the coordinator of the district natural disaster rescue and relief committee, said 100 houses at Kunje of Barpak VDC-2, 615 houses at Laprak, 200 houses at Singla of Gumda VDC, 100 houses at Lapsibot, 43 households at Yamgaon, and 20 houses at Thanti, 125 at Bhirkuna, 20 at Paintu and 80 at Khanigaon in Lapu VDC needed to be evacuated.
Similarly, he said the Committee has been urged to shift 55 houses at Dhorat and 150 houses at Shyamchet in Manbu VDC, 20 houses at Sano Philim and 15 at Debal in Sirdibas VDC, 30 houses at Patle Gaon of Simjung VDC and 145 households at Shimbhu of Saurpani VDC.
Likewise, 105 houses at Dhansira, 60 at Milim, 15 at Chisang and 36 at Banskot in Ghyachchok VDC and 100 households at Khorla village in Uhiya VDC have been recommended to be shifted.
The National Emergency Operations Centre under the Ministry of Home Affairs had written to the Committee asking it to provide information about the villages likely to be displaced due to the April 25 devastating earthquake and the hundreds of aftershocks since then. RSS
