A fundraising event was launched by Vice Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth and attended by Bollywood superstars Manisha Koirala and actor Gulshan Grover during the weekend.
The Donate for Nepal was launched by Help Foundation Mauritius. The effort was supported by Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth, the private sector and socio-cultural organisations. The HELP Foundation Mauritius has embarked in negotiations with various maritime container carriers that could lead to collection of materials that might be of urgent need to the quake victims, according to a statement.
Various NGOs in Mauritius have expressed commitment to building low-cost houses and two community health centres within the next coming couple of weeks.
