All-party committees have been mobilised in VDCs and municipalities to distribute the aid to the victims. The government has allocated Rs5.53 billion for the purpose.
Chief District Officers said most of the affected districts have already started distributing ID cards and the process will end within a week. Dolakha CDO Prem Lal Lamichhne said the distribution started in the district on Saturday.
In Dhading, the cash has already been distributed in Dhuwakot and Khari VDCs. “Some 1,300 households have received the aid in Dhuwakot VDC. Teams are being mobilised in other VDCs as well,” said Dhading CDO Basudev Ghimire. The ID cards are being issued as per the report of the needs assessment teams mobilised in the villages. The teams have categorised victims on the basis of completely and partially destroyed residences. The cash is for those whose houses are uninhabitable.
In Nuwakot, the district administration is awaiting the needs assessment reports for ID distribution. “Teams in 52 VDCs have submitted their reports and the data from four VDCs are expected to be handed in within a couple of days,” said Nuwakot CDO Koshhari Niraula. The government has announced to provide Rs200,000 for each homeless family and Rs25,000 for those whose houses are repairable. The Rs15,000 cash is to help victims set up temporary shelters before rains by purchasing zinc sheets or local construction materials.
