A writ has been filed against the Judicial Council alleging it of non-transparency in the appointment of judges.

Advocates Madhav Kumar Basnet and Meena Khadka jointly filed the writ at the Supreme Court on Sunday, seeking to make public the basis and causes along with the recommendation of appointment as per the Clause 4 of the Judicial Council Act, 2047.

In the writ, advocate Basnet and Khadka have argued that those who have taken up membership of the political parties should not be appointed judges and also sought mandamus calling for appointing only the non-political individuals.
