Gang of women traffickers busted
The Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police has busted a gang of traffickers involved in trafficking Nepali women to Africa, Gulf and other countries through enticement.Ekantipur Report
According to the Bureau, the arrests have been made as it has been found that the members of the gang trafficked the women to African countries as Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and to the Gulf countries of the United Arab Emirates, and Oman, and to Malaysia saying they would employ them in work with attractive salary and facilities at dance bars in those countries.
Although Sunil Magar from Jhapa and Surendra Bahadur Basnet from Bara were arrested on May 27 in this connection, the Bureau made them public on Monday, Superintendent of Police at the Bureau Kiran Bajracharya said.
Rajendra Subedi of Lalitpur, Sabin Raja Manandhar and Lalitraj Singh Suwal of Kathmandu, Indian national Tarun Rojana Khanagawal from New Delhi, Sunil Adhikari of Morang, Kedar Bahadur Khadka of Sankhuwasabha, Nabin Dahal of Dhankuta and Rajendra Khadka of Terhathum had already been arrested in this connection before this.
The members of the gang of women traffickers have been arrested under the 'Operation Eagle' which the Bureau had been conducting since last year. All the arrested have been sent to jail after convicting them under human trafficking and sale, and organised crime.
Police stated that these people took photos of the women projecting them as models and trafficked them using various electronic media.
Police have also confiscated 24 passports and 12 citizenship cards belonging to these women. It was found in course of the investigation that the traffickers had sent the girls to Africa and other countries projecting them as their wives and made transactions worth millions of rupees as part of the illegal trafficking, therefore, cases would be filed against these persons under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, police said.
Similarly, the CIB arrested one Bhola Dahal who cheated various persons saying he would send them to the US and Bahrain in attractive jobs.
The Kathmandu District Court had some six years back fined him Rs 485,000 and sentenced to six months in prison.
The 34-year Dahal, a permanent resident of Dharan Municipality-15, Sunsari was arrested from Dhapakhel, Lalitpur, the Bureau stated. He has been remanded to custody. RSS
