Ban, Modi, Li among invitees for donor meet
The government is planning to invite UN Secretary General Bank Ki-moon, Indian PM Narendra Modi and Chinese PM Li Keqiang, in the international donor conference slated for June 25.The conference is being held to appeal the international community for financial assistance that Nepal needs to recover from the loss caused by the April 25 earthquake. The roster of invitees includes heads of the development partners and members of the international community that are actively engaged in Nepal’s development works.
The participation of UN Secretary General Ban, Indian Prime Minister Modi and Chinese Prime Minister Li will add value to the conference, said Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey.
The presence of these three personalities along with other heads of the development partners will definitely boost our confidence and will help gather momentum for fund collection, added Pandey.
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala will dispatch separate invitation letters to UN secretary general and the prime ministers of India and China, seeking their participation and contribution in Nepal’s reconstruction bid.
