According to a high level source of Nepal Army (NA), DNA tests have verified that the five missing people of Singati died in the crash of US military chopper.
Relatives of the missing people started to enquire about the whereabouts of their kin after they could not be found at any hospitals even after 13 days have passed since they were carried into the helicopter.
Further remnants were taken from the crash site after growing suspicion that they might have been on board the ill-fated flight.
Earlier this week, a team had reached the district headquarters Charikot to collect DNA sample of the missing persons’ relatives.
Nepal Army and US Army will publish an official statement to inform about the situation of the missing persons, the NA sources said. Two Nepal Army personnel and six US Marines were killed in the May 12 crash. The US chopper was on search and rescue mission to Dolakha, one of the districts hit hardest by the recent quakes.
