Engineers to receive training for reconstruction and repair
The Nepal Engineering Association is launching an 'Extensive Assessment and Repair' training for engineers to provide technical assistance in reconstructing and repairing the structuresThe Association will impart training to at least 500 engineers to produce specialists for reconstruction and repair works, it was informed at a press meet on Tuesday.
A total of 40 engineers are being imparted a 3-day training on building and structure with the seventh group completing the short course as of Tuesday, Association Chairman Drubaraj Thapa said.
The Association will disclose the names of the engineers having specialist training on its website so as to deploy them to the quake affected areas at the earliest. The public may avail of the service directly contacting the engineer by browsing through the list.
"An initiative is necessary for immediate implementation of the integrated settlement development programme in the areas ravaged by the earthquake," Thapa shared adding, "This is also one of the reasons why we have organized specialist training to produce expert teams."
The Association has suggested the government to carry out the construction works under the supervision of the expert engineers by enforcing the building code through the concerned body across the country.
A total of 3,500 volunteers and expert engineers have been deployed in the designated areas who have acquired details of more than 60,000 houses, said Association's central member Bishworaj Kafle.
The Association launched the specialist training from May 20 as part of the second phase programme.
