A sub-committee formed under Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (PDCC) to seek agreement on few contentions seen in the constitution drafting has failed to forge consensus in its meeting on Thursday. The meeting ended inconclusively.
After the sub-committee failed to seek agreement, the responsibility of seeking agreement on the issues like transitional governance, some terminologies of the preamble of the new constitution and the draft of constitution amendment, has been handed back to the PDCC itself.
A six-member sub-committee was formed under the coordination of the PDCC member Purna Bahadur Khadka.
As the sub-committee failed to submit a consensual report, the Constitution Assembly (CA) meeting summoned for today has been postponed for later today.
Meanwhile, a meeting of PDCC has failed to convene yet.
It has been learnt that the PDCC meeting could not convene after the sub-committee failed to seek consensus on some of the issues pertaining to the new constitution.
The sub-committee failed to finalise its report after the disputes on a number of issues such as whether or not to mention the parliamentary system, pluralism and reappointment of office bearers in the constitutional bodies.
