Govt announces half-month fee waiver
The Ministry of Education on Sunday decided to waive half-month school fee for the Nepali month of Baisakh when the schools remained shut following the Great Earthquake.Ekantipur Report
The MoE has asked all the private schools in the 14 districts worst affected by the earthquake to waive half of the montly fees during the halt of academic activities due to the tremors..
Following the decision, the student unions affiliated to major political parties have called off their protest and strike programmes after the government decided to exempt the half-month fee of students, Nepal Students Union Spokesperson Yupi Lamichhane said.
The student unions on Sunday morning had drawn the attention of Prime Minister towards this issue.
The MoE issued a press statement today, directing educational institutions to adjust and complete the curriculum in time for it was affected due to the closure owing to the earthquakes.
In the statement, the MoE stated that 200 children losing both of their parents in the earthquake would be provided residence and education at SOS Village Nepal based on the understanding reached between the SOS and government earlier.
