Normal0falsefalsefalseEN-USX-NONEX-NONEThe Kathmandu District Court on Sunday awarded life imprisonment to Bimalesh Prasad Yadav for killing Kantipur College student Ritu Mahaseth.

A single bench of Justice Kul Prasad Sharma upheld the police investigation report that said Yadav stabbed and killed Ritu with a knife.

Mahaseth, a Bachelor’s level student at Kantipur College and resident of a girl’s hostel, was stabbed to death at Maitidevi in the Capital while she was on her way to a friend’s wedding in December 2014.

Critically injured, Mahaseth was rushed to Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal and was later shifted to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police claimed that Yadav killed her because she refused to accept his ‘love’ proposal.  He was a tractor driver at Ritu’s house and began working as a driver in Kathmandu when Ritu came to the Capital to further her studies after finishing school.
