Donors' meet preps 'well-coordinated'
The Foreign Ministry has said that it is working with the Finance Ministry to hold a donors' conference on post-quake reconstruction, dismissing suggestions that there was a rift.Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry said the foreign secretary is a member of the Conference Organising Committee and that both the ministries are well-coordinated on matters related to the meet.
The statement comes after the Post carried a news report titled "2 ministries in turf war over meet preps" stating that the Foreign Ministry was miffed at the Finance Ministry regarding the preparations for the donors' conference.
Refuting claims about the lack of coordination between the line ministries, the Foreign Ministry said in the statement that it attaches great importance to the conference as it is a priority event being hosted by the government. "The success of the event will give a much-needed boost to our reconstruction and recovery works. For this, support and collaboration from all stakeholders, including the media, is critical," the statement reads.
