Easing pain through comedy shows
Comedian Marichman Shrestha-popularly known as Balchhi Dhrube—is currently in Gorkha, spreading awareness among students through comedy programmes.

Shrestha, on Monday, performed his craft among an audience of students from more than 40 schools in Gorkha. “Since performing is my profession, I have decided to entertain the quake victims and provide some moral encouragement by the act of comedy,” said Shrestha. “I will continue the show in 50 schools of the district.”

“Shrestha’s performances have been integral in lifting the student’s sprits,” said Gopal Marhatta, Principal of Mahendra School, Kundur. “Most of the students are traumatised and they could use the moral support,” he added.
Shrestha also encouraged the children to not lose hope in a time like this. He requested them to work hard on their studies even if they are living under tarpaulins.
