Protest if 16-point pact not scrapped: Gajurel
CPN-Maoist Vice-chairman CP Gajurel has said the 16-point agreement signed amongst the major four political parties could not respect the spirit of the past political movements.Speaking at a programme at Lahan of Siraha district on Friday, leader Gajurel warned of setting the new constitution on fire if it was promulgated on the basis of the agreement. He said, "We have been holding discussion with political forces that have reservations on the 16-point agreement. We will have working unity and announce the protest programmes, soon."
The four political parties— Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, UCPN (Maoist) and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum- Loktantrik— have betrayed the people, said CPN-Maoist leader Gajurel. He claimed the constitution that would be promulgated on the basis of the agreement would be a regressive one and urged people to protest it.
"We fought people's war for a decade against the multi-party parliamentary system," said Gajurel, "The agreement has been signed for establishing the same system which is condemnable." The CPN-Maoist Vice-chairman claimed that the UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had betrayed the people by signing the agreement.
Gajurel further remarked that CPN-Maoist had no possibilities of talks regarding party unification with the UCPN (Maoist). RSS
