CIAA drags 33 people to court on fake document charges
The CIAA on Friday filed corruption charges at the Special Court against 33 people on charge of granting work permit to migrant workers based on fake documents.Ekantipur Report
The anti-graft body has dragged 12 department officials, including Under-secretary Ramji Prasad Baral, 19 manpower entrepreneurs, a middle man, and a printing press operator involved in printing fake documents, to the court. They have been charged with promoting corruption by encouraging and approving the fake documents of workers seeking foreign employment.
CIAA has sought a fine of 3,373,500 and maximum punishment in accordance with the Corruption Prevention Act 2002.
The accused department officers involved in pocketing bribe money by approving fake documents are named as Under-secretary Ramji Prasad Baral, section officer Siddharaj Chataut, Gambir Singh Bista, Prithivi Raj Tiwari, Tirtha Raj Poudel, Laxman Prasad Shrestha, Damodar Dahal and Jayaram Nepal. Non-gazated officer Kabiraj Upadhyay, Padam Bahadur Shahi and translators Sadare Alam and Abdul Sabur.
