Sitaula tables first draft of constitution, CA meet ends

Constitution Drafting Committee Chairman Krishna Prasad Sitaula presented the first draft of the new constitution at the Constitution Assembly (CA) on Tuesday.
CA Chairman Subas Nembang ended today’s full house session and summoned the next CA meet for July 2.
Lawmakers of disgruntled Madhes-based parties chanted slogans and torn the copies of the statute draft at CA rostrum after Sitaula presented it at the CA.
Lawmakers of Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party and Sadbhawana Party walked out of the CA building chanting slogans. Forum Chairman Upendra Yadav said the new constitution without federalism being brought in the name of “fast-track” won't be acceptable. He warned of resorting to protests if the constitution is promulgated without federalism based on identity.
The meeting summoned for 2 pm commenced at 8:00 in the evening.
Earlier, Sitaula handed over the constitution draft to CA Chairman Nembang after amending language of the draft as demanded by the main opposition UCPN (Maoist).
Giri walks out of CA meet
Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Pradeep Giri walked out of the Constituent Assembly(CA) meeting after CA Chairman Nembang refused his request for time to speak at the meeting. He expressed desire to speak at the meeting before CDC Chairman Sitaula presented the first draft of the new constitution.
He vented his dissatisfaction against CA Chairman saying that wrong practice has begun in the name of majority.
