Speaking in the Parliamentary-Party meeting of the party held on Thursday, majority of the NC lawmakers criticised the party leadership for failing to mention the term ‘pluralism’ in the preamble of the new constitution.
The lawmakers accused the party leadership of surrendering to the instigation of the communists. NC Central member Shekhar Koirala said that the incumbent party leadership who removed pluralism from the constitution draft should not take the names of BP Koirala, Ganesh Man Singh, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and Girija Prasad Koirala.
NC leaders from Madhes, during the meeting, opined that it was sad for a party that has always advocated in favour of an independent judiciary, not to implement the Supreme Court’s decision. The leaders said that the SC’s decisions should not be ignored saying that the constitution should be promulgated after naming and demarking the federal states.
Leader Bimalendra Nidhi remarked that the Constituent Assembly should fix the name and border of the federal states as per the order of the apex court.
The next Parliamentary-Party meeting is scheduled for Friday.
