According to the District Police Office, the number of missing locals in Langtang is 22. While 22 others are foreigners, the remaining 62 are people who had come from different districts to work as trekking guides and porters.

Speaking at a public hearing programme organised by the District Development Committee office in Dhunche on Saturday, DSP Prabin Pokharel said 659 people had died and 130 others are still missing. Among the bodies recovered in Langtang, 11 were of foreigners.

According to police, 16 people are missing in Timure, six in Mailung and one each in Yarsa and Laharepauwa. Thirteen body parts recovered in the rubble were taken to the TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu for DNA test.

A deadly avalanche triggered by the earthquake swept away an entire village, a major tourist destination in the country. Similarly, the situation of a customs official and 15 locals is still unknown as the landslides buried a container at Rasuwagadhi border point in Timure.

The displaced people from Langtang are taking shelter in monasteries in Kathmandu. The District Administration Office, Rasuwa, is preparing to relocate the displaced people to Rimiche, Sindhum and Kanjing of Langtang.
