In the three-point directive, the committee has asked the ministry to take action against the management committee whose inefficiency resulted in the crisis.
“The future of 317 students has been uncertain. Their classes should resume immediately,” said committee Chairman Sushil Kumar Shrestha.
The meeting also formed a five-member panel to study if other medical colleges have complied with the standards. “This will help avert any crisis that medical colleges could face in the near future,” said Shrestha.
A majority of the students have been staging protests in Kathmandu demanding immediate resumption of their classes. The students, after several failed attempts, had approached the House committee asking it to resolve their crisis.
“Janaki seemed to have failed to have the basic prerequisites set by the Medical Council,” said Shrestha.
The meeting was attended by Education Minister Chitra Lekha Yadav and IoM Dean Rakesh Shriwastav, among others.
