WFP to construct 50 temporary health centres
The World Food Programme (WFP) has been constructing 50 temporary health centres along with relief distribution in areas worst hit by the earthquake.Over 900 hospitals and health centres across the nation suffered partial or full damage due to devastating April 25 quake and several aftershocks.
The WFP so far has constructed 17 such temporary health centers with the help of its engineering experts, said Shitashma Thapa, communications officer at the WFP.
Locals would be benefited from such health centres as most of the rural road networks may have been disrupted during the rainy season. The WFP has so far distributed relief to two million people in its first phase programme.
Similarly, the WFP has distributed 6,189 metric tonnes of rice to 800,250 quake victims, officer Thapa told RSS. Similarly, the WFP has invested 866,600 US dollars to remove the quake debris by involving local people for the same.
Likewise, the WFP has distributed nutritious foods to children and lactating mothers.
Similarly, under the third phase programme, it expects to provide food security under its cash- based infrastructure programme to 938,000 people.
The WFP is planning to launch this programme expecting that the remote areas' market would be completely operated by 2017, said official at the WFP Ramji Dahal. RSS
