Parbat landslip buries nine houses (with photos)
Nine houses were buried in a landslide that occurred at Maldhunga of Parbat district on Wednesday morning. “The area has been facing landslide problem for past one month but today’s landslide was fierce one,” said a local Dirhgalal Subedi.
Twenty-eight families who have been living in the area for past 22 years have been displaced with no place to go.
Likewise, around 80 other houses in the area are still under the risk of landslide.
Deputy-chief District Officer Chuda Raj Bhattarai informed that 40 houses are badly affected and not suitable for living. “We are facing problems for their immediate resettlement due to unavailability of suitable land,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Maldhunga-Beni road section has been obstructed due to the continuous landslide leaving the passengers commuting through the area stranded.
