Sanjay Ismaili Magar, the alleged shooter of Justice Rana Bahadur Bam, has been brought to the Capital from Saudi Arabia on Sunday.Sanjay Ismaili Magar, the alleged shooter of Justice Rana Bahadur Bam, has been brought to the Capital from Saudi Arabia Sunday.
Magar was flown into the Capital in an Air India flight via New Delhi. He is believed to have shot dead SC Justice Bam near UN Park in Lalitpur at 11.30 am on May 31, 2012.
A resident of Khaniyapani-5 in Ramechhap district, Magar had fled to Saudi Arabia after the murder. He was arrested twice by police for questioning following Bam’s death but was released as police could not gather enough evidence against his involvement in the crime.
Police then arrested former Chure Bhawar Rastriya Ekata Party cadre Babu Thapa, the mastermind, and two others in connection with the crime. Police also made a third attempt to arrest Magar but by then he had fled to Saudi Arabia for employment.
Police had issued a diffusion notice through Interpol to track down Magar. He was later arrested by Saudi Arabian police.
Thapa, after his arrest, admitted to killing the justice who, he thought, had ended his political career by ruling against him over a leadership of the Chure Bhawar Party.
Magar will be presented before the media amid a press meet at 2 pm today.
